Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly will today receive their certificates of return.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had during the announcement for the rescheduled election stated that certificates of returns will be issued on the 16th of April.
Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, beat the candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Awara Festus Biakpomabor to emerge winner of the keenly contested election which was concluded on the 3rd of April after an orgy of violence led to the suspension of the election on March 9.
Wike, after being declared the winner by INEC, had also extended an olive branch to opposition figures, especially his predecessor, the minister of transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, for a unity government that will ensure peace and development of the state.
