Rivers State election tribunal sits, orders service through substituted means

The Rivers State Election Tribunal for the 2019 general election began its maiden sitting on Wednesday.

The three-man Tribunal under the leadership of Justice Umar Dogondaji will handle matters for the National Assembly, governorship and state Houses of Assembly elections in Rivers State has resumed sitting in Port Harcourt.

The tribunal during its sitting on Wednesday undertook preliminary motions seeking substituted service to defendants.

The tribunal granted the request of the Accord Party candidate for Obio/Akpor federal constituency seat, Tonny Boms, to serve petitions to the PDP lawmaker-elect, Kingsley Chindah, through substituted means.

The panel also ordered the petitioners to serve the respondents by pasting the processes on the wall of PDP secretariat on Aba Road, Port Harcourt.

Similarly, the panel ordered substituted service in favour of the candidate of Social Democratic Party, SDP, for Oyigbo/Tai/Eleme Federal Constituency, Peters Darling, against the winner of the federal constituency seat, Mr. Chisom Dike, of Peoples Democratic Party, and adjourned till May 9 for mentions.
