Wike leads with 601, 423 votes as INEC goes on recess

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Nyesom Wike, has maintained a clear lead over his rival, Awara Biakpomabo of the African Action Congress in the 2019 gubernatorial election.

After results for 19 Local Government Area were collated, Wike is leading with a 601, 423 vote difference.

Our correspondent Tina Amanda, reports that after the declaration of Obio-Akpor result, there was an uproar when a party agent of APP by name Dike Dickson, contested the result and alleged that governor Wike carted away with all the electoral materials of Obio-Akpor.

But party agent of New Nigeria People’s Party NNPP, Princewill Eyin, disagreed with the APP agent and labelled him as an impostor while the party agent for African Action Congress AAC Nenye Kocha, admitted before the State Collation Officer, Professor Teddy Adias, that the party is ready to work for peace, as Obio-Akpor LGA is Governor Nyesom Wike stronghold, stressing that the party wants to do things differently.

The commission has gone on recess and will resume further collation by 3 pm
