Arm wrestling association inaugurated in Rivers State


The Rivers State Sports Council has inaugurated an Arm Wrestling Association.

The inauguration took place at the indoor sports hall of the Rivers State Sports Council on Tuesday.

The ceremony was chaired by the acting state Technical Director, Mildred Hartand with other top officials of the State’s sport Council and the president of the Nigeria Arm Wrestling Federation, Engineer Olatunji Jackson gracing the occassion.

Members of the new association includes former Rivers State Hockey player, Upright Bills, Chidiebere Anugwolu of Nigeria Info FM and Favour Eye.

After the end of what was a successful inaugural ceremony, the president lauded the Rivers State Sports Council and the Technical Director for their overwhelming support towards ensuring the new association prosper. The President adds that with the sports council support, Arm Wrestling in the state will go places.

Emmanuel Jaja was also named the Secretary of the Rivers State Association Arm Wrestling Federation.

Furthermore, the federation’s president, Olatunji Jackson states that he was impressed with members of the new association while adding that Tuesday’s event shows that the association is able to overcome any future challenges that confront them.

Therefore, he promises that there would be opportunities for Arm Wrestling enthusiasts in Rivers State to get involved actively in the sports in the coming months.
