Public Complaints Commission PCC has charged other federal government agencies responsible for distribution and monitoring of jobs opportunities to ensure equitable distribution of such jobs to residents in the state.
The Federal Commissioner of PCC in Rivers State, MARSHALL ISRAEL gave the charged at a visit of Federal Character Commission to the Nigeria Prisons services in the state.
He said PCC has been mandated by law to look into inter-agency disputes, infringements of rights, corruption and abuses within the office/public environment with a view to proffering solution and resolve issues according to law.
He urged the Nigeria prison services to always put into consideration the indigenes of the state in discharging their mandate of equitable and monitoring of job opportunity.
ISRAEL who was reacting to complaints from some individuals over disenfranchisement on the ongoing recruitment by the Nigeria Prisons Services urged the agency to apply the rule of Federal Character Commission to ensure that Rivers People are part and beneficiary of the recruitment for the sake of equity and justice.
In his response, the Acting Director of Federal Character Commission in the state, HENRY OWUNARI lamented the challenges of compromised activities of local government workers who he said engage in issuing fake local government identification letter to non-indigenes.
He said this also limits the chances of getting the real indigenes of the state from getting the deserved quota job distribution
OWUNARI however assured that the commission will do its best to ensure that the right people are recruited especially with the ongoing Nigeria Prison recruitments.
Speaking in an interview with the journalists in PortHarcourt, the state Controller of Prisons, OLUMIDE TINUOYE disclosed that only about three hundred names of Rivers State indigenes shortlisted were sent from Abuja for the exercise.
He said those who are not lucky this time should try again or take their query to the headquarter in Abuja as the state prisons services do not handle the issues of employment from the state.
He assured that only the shortlisted candidates will surely participate in the screening exercise.
