Three persons have been feared dead as a result of a clash between herdsmen and Abara community farmers in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Our correspondent gathered that a clash between herdsmen and residents of Abara community left three of the herdsmen dead.

According to a source that pleaded anonymity, the clash occurred as a result of what the residents termed “trespassing and encroachment” into their farm lands.

The source noted that the destruction of their farm by the herdsmen have been going on for a while.

He stated that this was not the first clash between herdsmen and farmers in the area, although none in time past has led to death.

As at the time of filing this report, the community has been deserted as a result of fear of reprisal attack.

On the other hand, efforts to reach the security agencies proved abortive as the police spokesman in the state has not returned a request for comments on the matter.
