The Word of Faith Group of Schools, Bundu, Port Harcourt has won the third edition of Keves Swimming Classic in Port Harcourt.
The one-day swimming classic took place at the Swimming Section of the Port Harcourt Club 1928.
The Word of Faith Group of Schools won the competition after winning five gold, four silver, and 3 bronze medals to claim the title.
Godgift International school, Borokiri won three gold, three silver and four bronze medals to claim the second position while Glorious Academy Group of Schools, New Road, Port Harcourt won two gold, three silver, and 4 bronze medals to finish third.
The Captain of the Word of Faith Group of Schools, Fred Idangofaka while commending his team for their victory said the competition has exposed them to the latest trend in the sports.
The sponsor of the tournament, IKENNA OKAFOR said the aim of the competition is to discover swimming talents for the state and the country.
Ikenna Okafor said the organizers of the catch them young swimming competition is partnering the state government to develop the sport at the grassroots level.
The Chairman of the Rivers State Swimming Association CHARLES NWOYE said the association will monitor the progress of the young swimmers that took part in the competition.
CHARLES NWOYE said that the Swimming Association will ensure the swimmers take part in the under-15 swimming competition that will be organized across the 23 local government areas in the state.
In his comment, the Vice Chairman of the Swimming Section of the Port Harcourt Club 1928, Hon. Kuro Brigss said the club will continue to do its best to support grassroots sports development in the state.
Kuro Briggs while commending the sponsor of the competition appeal to corporate bodies and other well-meaning Nigerians to support sports development across the country.
