Kalabari women protest killings by soldiers in Abonnema (Pictures)

Women in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State on Saturday, took to the streets to protest the killing of their sons and daughters by personnel of the Nigerian Army.

The army, on Saturday, 23rd February 2019 laid a siege on Abonnema during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

At least 30 persons were killed in the orgy of violence in the area while many more were injured.

The women who came out in their thousands, called on the Army to leave the town with immediate effect and also urged relevant authorities to investigate the immediate causes of the violence.
