A magistrate court in Port Harcourt has granted bail to the Rivers State Commissioner for Urban Development, Dr. Reason Onyia and the lawmaker representing Ahoada West Constituency at the State Assembly, Wanaka Okpokiri on self-recognition over an alleged breach of peace.
Dr. Reason Onyia and Wanaka Okpokiri were among 30 persons arraigned before a chief magistrate court for alleged breach of peace.
When the matter came up in court, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the two count charges against them.
Lawyer to the accused persons Golden Tamuno asked for the bail of the accused persons.
The Chief Magistrate Amadi Nna granted Three persons bail on self-recognition and the others with five sureties at the tune of N100 thousand Naira only.
Our Correspondents reports that the matter was adjourned to March 27 this year for hearing.
You will recall that the Nigerian Army paraded the commissioner and others for different alleged offenses during Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in the area.
Meanwhile, fifty-three other persons were arraigned before a chief magistrate court for alleged improper use of voters card in Omoku, Ogba Ndoni Local Government area of the State.
When the matter came up in court, the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The Chief Magistrate Andrew Jaja granted bail to the accused persons at the tune of One Million Naira with five sureties.
Each of the sureties must be verified by the court.
The court also adjourned to March 15 for hearing
