The sponsor of the Go Round/SWAN Secondary School Athletics Championship in Rivers State, Bro Felix Obuah says this year’s competition would be better and bigger than the inaugural edition.

Obuah stated this Wednesday in Port Harcourt when he received in audience the Rivers State executive of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) led by its Acting Chairman, Sony Uboh and the Ad-Hoc Committee set up to marshal out plans for the championship.

Speaking shortly after receiving an interim report from the ad-hoc committee, he stressed that the championship has his full backing and would do all within his powers to ensure a successful event.

“Honestly, I have seen the budget proposal for the competition and I can assure you that it is ok and doable.

“We will try as much as possible to source for sponsors so that this year’s edition of the championship will be glamorous and enjoyable for all,” he stated.

He reiterated his commitment to the discovery of talents at the grassroots, saying Nigerians must look beyond football and develop other sports to expand the frontiers of talents nurturing.

Obuah, who is also the patron of SWAN in Rivers State, said he would want the competition to hold before the end of first quarter this year, adding that other subcommittees should be formed soonest in order to gather momentum.

Meanwhile, Bro Felix Obuah has also thrown his weight behind SWAN Rivers Awards Night scheduled for March.

He assured of his support, saying such efforts aimed at recognizing excellence would go along way in motivating others to perform better.
