Rivers SDP hails NEC over Buhari’s endorsement

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Rivers state, has applauded the decision of its National Executive Committee (NEC) to adopt President Muhammadu Buhari as its presidential candidate.

The party also directed its members and supporters to vote for Buhari in the February 16, 2019 presidential election as well as all the governorship, National and State assembly candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

Recall that the SDP’s NEC had last week announced the party’s withdrawal from the presidential race while adopting Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, for the poll.

Chairman of SDP in the state, Engr. Joshua Worlu, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday, expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support to the party. The statement reads in part:

“We the SDP Rivers state executive and party leaders in the State unanimously endorse the decision of the SDP (NEC) to adopt President Muhammadu Buhari as the party presidential candidate for the February 16th presidential election.

“All SDP National Assembly candidates will be voted for on the SDP platform and also the governorship and state assembly candidates will also be voted for on March 2nd 2019.

“The executives and leaders of our great party are grateful for the continued support for SDP in Rivers state.”
