Stanly Eguma, the technical manager of Rivers United Football Club of Port Harcourt has said that he was not disappointed even though his side didn’t win Kwara United of Ilorin in the matchday seven of the Nigeria Professional Football league ( NPFL).
Eguma said on Wednesday while briefing sports journalists shortly after his team were held to a goalless draw at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium Port Harcourt in the midweek match of the ongoing NPFL.
According to him, his players were too much in a hurry to get a goal, noting that they fail to settle the football on the ground.
“They fail to put down the ball and plan for goal. They were in a hurry that’s why we missed most of the chances.
We got a series of chances but couldn’t convert them and that’s what cost us the match”, Eguma stated.
The technical manager further explained that his team got a penalty and they were not given only to see a yellow card issued to his player.
He noted that he didn’t feel good because his players dominated the game but couldn’t convert the chances, adding that is football for you.
In the second half, we were in total control of the match”, he noted.
Also speaking, the technical adviser of Kwara United, Abubaka Bala expressed joy over getting a point in Port Harcourt, adding that the pride of Rivers State is a very big team in the NPFL.
He thanked God that his players played according to instruction and they got a point.
“We came here to keep the ball and we did it, thank God we didn’t concede any goal, “Bala explained.
