NPFL: Go Round set to down Pillars in Omoku

Ugochukwu Iwuchukwu

Go Round FC of Omoku will play former league champions Kano Pillars of Kano in matchday 7 of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL at the Krisdera Hotel Stadium, Omoku.

Go Round FC is not in a good position in this season’s abridged league as they have not been able to pick up maximum points at home in 2 out of 3 games at the Krisdera Stadium.

They were humbled 3-0 last time against Akwa United in Uyo and are now condemned to win against Pillars that they have never won against or they will be swimming in relegation waters.

Go Round FC’s home form is poor as they have won just one out of two games scoring once. They are however yet to concede a goal at home this season.

Kano Pillars’ away form is almost as bad as the home for their hosts as they have drawn one and lost two conceding four goals in the process.

Kano Pillars have scored 5 goals in their last 5 games also conceding 5 while Go Round FC have scored 1 and conceded 4 in last 5 games played

Both teams are tied with points but Pillars have a better goal difference.

Go Round FC will be without Left Wing Back, George Vincent who got a knock on his ankle during their last home game against Kada City FC.

After a late fitness test, the coaches have been told to let him sit this one out.

Patrick Osakwe signed from Cynosure FC returns to the team after missing a sitter against Kada City last Thursday.

The club’s top scorer, Ololade Sadiq (two goals) will also hope to get a start tomorrow as he makes the Match Day squad.

Coach of the side, Willy Udube is not happy about the downward spiral of the team since the win against Abia Warriors in Umuahia but says it can be expected, especially from a young side.

“This is a new team and it is work in progress. I told you after the win in Umuahia that after a good result like that it may be difficult for us,” Udube said.

“We must win. We are going to play like we have never played before. We have lost four points at home and I have told the boys that we must win.”

Head to Head

Go Round FC have played against Kano Pillars just once before and it was a loss in Kano in the 2017/ 18 season.

Kano Pillars beat Go Round FC 2-0 on March 24, 2018, in a Match Day 11 fixture

Alhassan Ibrahim scored a penalty in the 58th minute and Junior Lokosa got the second goal in the 85th minute
