National Executive Council, (NEC) of Nigeria Community Movement Party (NCMP) has sought explanations from the interim Rivers State Chairman of the party, Mr Igbechi Mac Anthony, for his decision to join other gubernatorial candidates in their endorsement of Governor Nysom Wike for a second term.
The query which was signed by NCMP National Legal Adviser & Head, General Legal Council Oshita John Otu, Esq., urged the embattled chairman, “not to foment any problem and, or issue, that is capable of bringing division or disharmony to the party within the pendency of your response /answer”.
“That you, as an interim Chairman of NCMP, River State Chapter, unlawfully connived with leaders of other political parties under the auspices of Inter Parties Advisory Council (IPAC, River State Chapter), and unilaterally sold your candidature as the Governorship Standard Bearer of NCMP, the interest and integrity of our dear party, received the sum of N400,000.00 from the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(Governor Nyesom Nwike) thereby endorsed his Candidature in total disregard to the Constitution of the NCMP and the party’s Manifesto, a fact, which you admitted on a phone conversation with the National Chairman.
“As an interim Chairman of River State Chapter of NCMP, you have not constituted any L.G.A Executive and build the membership strength of the party in River State, which has (23) L.G.A, contrary to your frequent communication to the National Secretariat on the same subject matter.
“The National Executive Council (NEC), NCMP, hereby resolved as follows: That you should within (72) Hours of the service of this correspondence on you, inclusive of the day of such service response to these allegations, which offend/contravene Articles 19 (c), (f),(h),(i), (k),(m),(n), (o),” the query which was issued on January 22, 2019 after an emergency meeting of the NEC read in parts.
Meanwhile, National Chairman of NCMP, Comrade Babatunde Ademola, has called on the teeming members of the party to always abide by laid down rules of the party, saying: “they are sacrosanct to the existence of Nigeria Community Movement Party.”
