Gunmen abduct 2 APC leaders in Port-Harcourt

Unknown gunmen have abducted two lawyers along Iloabuchi axis of the Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt.

The victims identified as Barrister John Joseph, who is Ward 8 APC leader in Emohua local government area of the state and Barrister Stephenson, were abducted at gunpoint on Sunday along Iloabuchi-Eagle Island road in the area.

A close relation of one of the victims who confirmed the incident to reporters said his brother and his colleague were returning from a political meeting from GRA, in the state capital, when they were ambushed and taken to unknown place.

The victim’s relative, who pleaded anonymity for security reasons, disclosed that a blood stain was also found inside his car, which was recovered behind the Rivers State University by police officers attached to Iloabuchi Division.

Family sources said the kidnappers are yet to contact the family and pleaded that the victims should be freed unhurt.

The Rivers Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident but said efforts are at on top gear to rescue the victims.
