Rukpoku under siege, residents cry out

People residing in Rukpoku community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area have pleaded with security agents to mobilize themselves around Rukpoku area in order to secure their lives and properties.

They made this call why speaking to Theportcitynews on how hoodlums attack them every night even in the broad daylight and do away with their valuables.

They said that security in the area has deteriorated as no one is safe.

Mr Onyebuchi Nwamuo narrated how hoodlums broke his door, beat him up and made away with his money, wristwatch, his handset including that of his wife.

Also speaking to our correspondent, Chibueze Anthony, an aluminium dealer narrated how they entered his shop and surrounded him with guns and took away all that he sold on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Another tricycle rider, Johnson Akpan told Theportcitynews how his vehicle was forcefully taken away from him at gunpoint one night while on his daily business routine. He also called on the security agents to come to their rescue.

Some of the women who spoke to our correspondent lamented how their handbags containing all their belongings were snatched from them.

They also called on the police to intervene in the area, adding that the situation is getting out of hand and life becoming unbearable.
