NANS President who promised President Buhari 20m votes did his NYSC in 2011

Danielson Bamidele Akpan, President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, who promised President Muhammadu Buhari 20 million votes during next month’s election did his national youth service in 2011.

Bamidele Akpan came under fire after his visit to Aso Rock where he and other students’ leaders met with the president.

In the video which is now going viral, NANS president and his cabinet members during the visit to President Muhammadu Buhari to discuss the ongoing ASUU strike said the population of Nigerian student is large and close to 80 million. He, however, added that ”if the constituency is well utilized, NANS can give 20 million votes to him in the February 2019 elections.

Their visit also came two months after the Academic Staff Union of the Universities, ASUU, embarked on an indefinite strike.

However, investigation by theportcitynews revealed that the NANS leader performed his mandatory one-year national youth service eight years ago, a development that raised questions as to whether the said students’ leaders were actually students in any of the Nigeria’s universities.

Other past presidents of the association have distanced themselves from the present NANS leadership
