Justice J.K Omotosho of the federal high court, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, handed a Port Harcourt-based blogger a 2-day sentence for videoing court proceedings.
The blogger, Barile Normagima was caught video-recording the proceedings between the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the state chapter of the All Progressive Congress, APC.
The blogger began recording the court proceedings immediately the court sat.
The PDP had filed the case at the court to compel INEC not to recognise any candidate from the APC in the state for the 2019 general elections.
It was reported that the judge also ordered that the man be brought to court on Thursday, December 13, to explain why he should not be prosecuted.
According to rules and norms, court proceedings in Nigeria are not to be recorded unless with the exceptional permission of the presiding judge.
It is forbidden for anyone, including journalists to record a presiding judge or lawyers in a matter when a case is on in court.
