The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Port Harcourt chapter says the judiciary has a very big role to play in resolving disputes via arbitration.
The chairperson of the Chartered Institute, FLORENCE FIBERESIMA stated this during the annual end of year lecture organized by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Port Harcourt chapter.
FLORENCE FIBERESIMA said the aim of the seminar is to entrench alternative dispute resolutions among individuals and corporate bodies.
She said that the end of the year event is an opportunity for the body to give an account of stewardship of their activities for the year 2018.
Fiberesima also said that the chapter is equipped to administer systems for the resolution of business and consumer disputes, with the aim of providing a cost-effective and timely alternative to litigation.
The Guest Speaker at the event, Justice ADOLPHUS ENEBELI, said the Rivers State multi-house bill was initiated to assist the judiciary in establishing an alternative dispute resolution processes.
Justice ADOLPHUS ENEBELI also called on legal practitioners in Rivers State to update themselves on the latest trend in arbitration in Nigeria.
He said that lawyers in Rivers State should be conversant with every clause in arbitration so as to give them an edge over their peers practising elsewhere
Justice Enebeli also commended the Rivers State government for the huge support given to the judiciary in the state.
