CAN, NGO to hold presidential debate December 10

To promote issue-based electioneering campaigns toward the 2019 Presidential Elections, a Presidential Debate involving some of the leading presidential candidates would hold on December 10 in Abuja.

Kenny Martins, Grand Patron of Legacy Initiative International, said on Tuesday in Lagos that the debate was part of the initiative’s activities in conjunction with the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN.

Martins said the groups, in continuation of their strategies to commit the country to the hands of God for a free and peaceful elections in 2019, would also begin the election year with a National Day of Prayer on Jan. 10.

According to him, the theme is: “Taking Nigeria Back to God” and the prayers will be led by the CAN President, Rev. Supo Ayokunle.

“Legacy has also reached advanced stages of preparation with our partners of the Muslim Faith to hold similar national programmes in Abuja and Lagos.

“The aim is to sensitise every single individual in the country on the need for total submission to the will of God for our country, and whatever will be the outcome of the general elections.

“We also pray for peace and progress to continue to reign in Nigeria throughout the elections period and afterwards,” Martins said.
