Gunmen shoot bouncer dead in Choba

Unidentified gunmen have shot a 33-year-old club bouncer to death in Choba, Obio/Akpor local government.

The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday while the victim simply identified as Oge returned home from work.

Gunmen were said to have shot the victim severally before zooming off in their car.

It is not immediately clear the reason for the shooting, although eyewitnesses say the shooting may not be unconnected to the recent spike in cult-related killings in the area.

The victim was a bouncer at a local nightclub, Chocolate, in Choba.

Recall that two persons were beheaded on Tuesday, the 12th day of November during a supremacy battle between Debam and Iceland cult groups.

There have also been incidents of cult-related killings in Diobu in Port Harcourt city local government and Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government area.

Residents who spoke to theportcitynews expressed fear over the rising spate of killings in the area and called on security agents to bring the killings to an end.

The Rivers State Police command through its Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, declined to comment on the matter, saying that he has not been briefed by the police formation in the area.
