The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has described Governor Nyesom Wike’s claims that the Federal Government has plans to plant 800 guns in the state to destabilise it, as a blatant falsehood.
The Rivers State governor in a statement made available by his special assistant on New Media, Simeon Nwakudu, claimed that the APC led federal government has hatched plans to plant 800 guns in the state to create crisis.
However, the publicity secretary of the party in the state, Chris Finebone said in a statement on Friday that the Governor and his officials are merely conjuring fantasies to deflect attention from their internal crises.
According to him, no right-thinking person will believe that the Federal Government would under any circumstance embark on such acts as alleged by the governor.
He said “Our reaction is that governors who deserve or merit the high office they occupy do not go to bed, wake up and convolute the air with such blatant falsehood as in this case.
“We believe that, in his sober moments, Gov. Nyesom Wike will not even believe himself.
“He knows that no right-thinking person will believe that the President Buhari-led Federal Government will under any circumstances embark on what the governor is conjuring against Rivers State or indeed any state.
“Gov. Wike has found it difficult to renew his MoU with his gunmen allies (who have now turned rebels and declared wanted) towards repeating in 2019 what they did in 2015.
“To conceal the confusion in their camp, Wike and his officials contrive all sorts of fantasies just to detract and deflect attention from their internal crises.
