Rivers State Government denies deducting funds from Local Government account

The Rivers State Government has denied reports that it is deducting funds from Local Government accounts.

The State Government through the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Ruderford LongJohn during a chat with journalists said the reports were false and lacked merit.

LongJohn explained that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has been prudent and transparent with public funds since coming into office.

According to him “Because we are getting close to political period, basically I have to let the public know that his Excellency has at no time deducted any money from any local government council and has never authorized such. The general public should, as a matter of fact, disregard it”.

Mr LongJohn, however, noted that he is the only person in the position to tell if there is any deduction or not, so the public should disregard it and go about their normal business.
