Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Tonye Cole and Former Acting Managing Director of RISAA for what it termed “the sponsorship of unprovoked violence” which led to the death of two PDP members during the voters sensitization programme in Ipo on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
Recall that gunmen attacked a team of PDP supporters in Ipo, Ikwerre Local Government Area where two persons were killed and six others severely wounded.
Rivers PDP in a statement issued by its state Publicity Secretary, Darlington Orji, also called for the arrest and prosecution of Chibuike Ikenga and Ezemonye Amadi who conspired with the Minister of Transportation, Tonye Cole and the Former Acting Managing Director of RISAA to sponsor a deadly cultist, Kenjika Jonathan alias School Boy to unleash mayhem on innocent and peace-loving PDP members at Ipo in Ikwerre Local Government Area.
“Scores were also injured in the unwarranted attacks, while several vehicles were damaged in the rain of bullets by the assassins hired by the Rivers APC agents of violence”
The party declared that the pre-meditated attack on the PDP Voter Sensitization Event at Ipo was a plot by the Minister of Transportation and the Former Acting Managing Director of RISAA to assassinate the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike.
The party added that “credible intelligence on the plots by the APC was passed unto the security agencies by the authorities of Ikwerre Local Government Area”
“While condoling with the family of Uche Nnana and the family of the woman murdered by the plot of the Minister, Tonye Cole and Chukwudi Dimkpa, the PDP will not be cowed by the mindless use of violence by the APC and her agents”
The statement declared that the APC remains rejected across Rivers State because it is a party that promotes deaths, under-development and bitterness.
The party added that “the re-election of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is a fait accompli and a thousand Amaechis, Coles and Dimkpa’s sponsoring criminal gangs will not change this fact”
The Party called on the Inspector Inspector General of Police to as a matter of urgency arrest the indicted APC Chieftains for prosecution, in the interest of peace and justice.
It added that their direct links with the failed APC Federal Government is not a license to kill and unleash violence on unarmed PDP members.
