Rivers State Government to probe alleged N36 billion fraud under Amaechi’s administration.

The Rivers state Government has said it will probe the large-scale acts of fraud involving at least N36 Billion at two syringe factories in the state.

The commissioner for Information and Communications, Emma Okah, in a statement made available to theportcitynews, said a judicial commission of inquiry would be set up to probe alleged fraud at the Auto Destruct Syringe Factory at Rumuosi, Obio Akpor LGA and its sister company – Integrated Medical Industries Limited during the past administration in the State.

Okah said in the statement that the decision was reached at the State Executive Council meeting yesterday.

Okah further explained that the management team led by one Mr Amenya Wokoma has been sacked while a management structure will be put in place pending the outcome of the commission of inquiry.

He also said that the Council has also directed the Honorable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to take over the ongoing prosecution of Mr Wokoma for his role in the stealing of company assets worth billions of naira.
