The Steady Run Fitness Club says it is partnering with Rotary Club to raise awareness in the fight against polio during the Port Harcourt Mini Marathon on November 24th, 2018.
The President of Steady Run Fitness Club, STEADY ONOME IDISI, during a press briefing in Port Harcourt, said the aim is to commence the final push against polio in the country.
”The need to create massive awareness and to finally put an end to polio birthed the theme of the Port Harcourt mini marathon which is the final push against polio.
“There will be senior male and female, junior male and female as well as physically challenged categories who will compete for the first, second and third positions respectively” he said.
He also announced that the total prize money for the mini marathon is one point five million naira while there will be consolation prizes for the first 80 participants.
Steady Onome noted that a certificate of participation will be presented to every participant in all categories.
He said that the route of the mini marathon will be from Aggrey Road to first artillery junction and back to Aggrey Road which is a total of 21km.
The President of Steady Run Fitness Club stated that they have lined up other side attractions like para soccer, martial arts, aerobics, dance for fitness, kickboxing as side attractions during the mini-marathon.
He added that persons interested in participating in the marathon should register at www.portharcourtmarathon.com.
In the meantime, the President of Rotary Club Port Harcourt, Cosmopolitan IBIM SEMENITARI said the partnership between steady run and the Rotary club will enable more people to be aware of the dangers of polio.
IBIM SEMENITARI said that the Port Harcourt mini marathon will drive home Rotary club’s message to the remote areas of Port Harcourt.
