The Acting Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 6 Calabar, Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, has declared that the Nigerian police will be fair and impartial in providing security during the 2019 general elections in Rivers State.

Ogunjemilusi, who gave the assurance in Port Harcourt, during a familiarisation visit to the state police command, warned those planning to perpetrate violence to stay clear of Rivers or face the wrath of the law.

The AIG urged stakeholders in the State to support the Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed and the entire officers of the command in ensuring a safe and crime-free state.

Earlier in his address, CP Zaki Ahmed, lauded AIG Ogunjemilusi for the supervisory visit to his command

The CP who thanked the IGP for sending 20 vehicles to the command to aid the efficiency of their duty said: “Crime and criminality have drastically reduced in the state.”

Ahmed further sought the support of AIG Ogunjemilusi in ensuring that the 2019 general elections in Rivers is not described as violence but loses all fear and tense with the presence of police.

Ogunjemilusi stressed the need for synergy between the police and other sister security agencies in the state, urging the public to trust and support the policemen in the discharge of their duties.
