Breaking: Tonye Cole’s campaign convoy crashes into farmers, two dead. (Pictures)

The campaign convoy of the Rivers State gubernatorial candidate on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, Architect Tonye Cole, has reportedly been involved in an accident.

The accident which occurred at about 1:00 pm on Friday left two persons dead with scores more injured.

The Guber candidate was on his way to Abua local government area when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Theportcitynews gathered that the campaign convoy of Architect Tonye Cole had entered Ward 8 in Egbolom community for a campaign and familiarization visit to the people when the vehicle rammed into a group of people going to their farm.

This led to the death of the two persons while injuring a hand full of others, although the Guber candidate did not sustain any injuries.

Convoys of politicians in Nigeria are known to operate at high speed.

As at the time of filing this report, efforts are being made to take the injured victims to the hospital for adequate medical attention.
