The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State may be in for yet another power tussle as the factional chairman of the party, Chief Peter Odike, JP, has come out to describe as null and void, the news making the rounds that Architect Tonye Cole is the gubernatorial candidate of the party in Rivers State.
He also debunked and described as laughable, the pronouncement of Barrister Chidi Lyold as the Director General of Tonye cole’s campaign, saying that is as an effort in futility.
Chief Odike pointed out that Architect Tonye Cole cannot be the gubernatorial candidate as the court has ordered that the delegates that brought in Architect Tonye Cole via indirect primaries where unlawfully elected and as such, his emergence does not exist in the eyes of the law.
He further said Senator Magnus Abe is the authentic gubernatorial candidate of the party because he was elected through a direct primary process which gave all members of the party in Rivers State the freedom to participate in choosing their candidates.
Prince Odike maintained that the minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi handpicked all the party members working in the Ojukaye Flag-Amachree led executive.
In his words ” We wish to state categorically and, as the public very well knows, that the Rivers State High Court has since voided the purported indirect primaries organized by the minister of Transportation, Rt. Rotimi Amaechi and indeed, all the purported party officers handpicked by the same Minister as led by Ojukaye Flag Amachree”
Theportcitynews observed that the Prince Peter Odike led faction of the Rivers State APC are hopeful that Senator Magnus Abe will fly the party’s flag when he said “We state, for the avoidance of doubt, that Mr Tonye Cole is not the candidate of APC Rivers State and there can, therefore, be no DG for a non existent candidate”
Efforts to reach the Ojukaye led faction of the party proved abortive.
