Joseph Izu: Family demands for justice two years after his murder

The Parents, family members and friends of the late Shooting Stars Sports Club 3SC of Ibadan footballer JOSEPH IZU who was allegedly killed at Okaki in Ahoada-West local government area by a military officer in 2016 are still crying for justice.

The father of the late Joseph Izu , Rubean Martins Izu during a chat with journalists said its exactly two years when his son was murdered on the 16th of October, 2016 and they have not gotten justice.

Rubean Martins Izu demanded the quick release of the report of the panel set up by the federal authority to ensure those behind the murder of their son are brought to book.

”We want the Federal government to play their role in keeping with the terms of human rights activities because that is where the matter lies right now. We are begging government that the report of the human rights that went around this country should not go in vain so that the culprits of our son’s murder will be apprehended and brought to book” he said.

Meanwhile, the South-South Chairman of the Civil Liberty Organization, Carl Chinedu Uchegbu who had petitioned the military over the matter emphasized that justice and compensation should be given to the family of JOSEPH IZU.

”Currently, the position of the CLO on Joseph Izu is with the House of Representatives, there are no statutes of limitation of murder. Even if they take ten years, somebody who has committed murder must be brought to justice. And also must importantly justice must be given to this family” he stated.
