Woman escapes death in the hands of ritualists in Etche

In what would have turned a bloody Sunday, a woman has escaped death in the hands of some suspected ritualists in Etche.

Reports say the middle-aged woman from Umuechem community in Etche Local Government Area narrowly escaped death when she was attacked in her farm by ritualists when she visited the farm to get some vegetables and firewood for her family use.

Incidents of ritual killings have spiked in recent months in Etche.

Theportcitynews reported that a woman was killed in her cassava farm a week ago while her vital organs were harvested thereafter.

There was also another incident of ritual-related killings of a young woman and a man three weeks ago.

Speaking to our correspondent, a youth of the community, Mr Uzoma, lamented over the incessant attacks on the villagers which, according to him, have forced them to live in fear.

He said the forthcoming festive period and general elections have opened up the area to all forms of vices.

He also called on security operatives in the state to come to their aid.
