The media aide to Eneka CDC Chairman, Okey Waka said the wrestling competition is a display of Eneka traditional heritage. He said the annual competition is an age-long tradition in Ikwerre land that is used to sustain peace, friendly and healthy living in the area.

He stated that the clan will transfer the culture to the younger generation.

”Wrestling festival is an age-long activity. Ikwerre has been known for wrestling, it’s one of their traditional culture that they normally do every year. Since the days of our fathers, we have been doing this and we believe that we need to transfer the tradition to the next generation. We are inviting the general public to come and witness the wrestling festival. It’s very interesting, you need to see the younuoug men facing one another in the wrestling field” he said.

He added that the wrestling festival will take place every weekend starting from 13th October 2018 at Rumu-owha community and will end on the 29th of December, 2018.
