Sporadic shootings in Okehi, the headquarters of Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, marred the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, House of Representatives’ primaries on Wednesday.
The shooting comes days after Police averted what would have turned into a bood bath during a PDP delegates election in Chokocho area of the local government as thugs accompanying some political bigwigs from the area, disrupted the election and carted away electoral materials.
A group of suspected political thugs gained entry into the venue of the exercise where they engaged in a series of verbal altercations.
Our correspondent reports that some chieftains of the party in the local government area had allegedly come with some thugs to the venue.
Our correspondent also reported that some of the invading political thugs tied objects suspected to be charms during the shooting, which was ostensibly targeted at scaring people away.
The shooting which lasted for about 15 minutes, caused confusion during the primary, where the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Jerome Eke, was to slug it out with another PDP chieftain, Ephraim Uzi.
