The Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Philip Okparaji has debunked rumours of growing insecurity in the area, maintaining that his administration has nipped insecurity in the bud.
The Eleme Council boss said this in reaction to statements credited to the O-E’La Bor Eleme General Assembly, insisting that businesses are now striving in the area following the return of peace under his watch as executive chairman.
“I have done a lot to improve security in Eleme LGA. Under my administration, nightlife has returned to my area. I have robust collaboration with security agencies to ensure that the lives and property of Eleme people are guaranteed. Those peddling rumours of insecurity in Eleme do not mean well for our people, “Barr. Okparaji said.
While expressing concern over the current state of affairs in Eleme LGA, the President General of O-E’La Bor Eleme General Assembly, Israel Abbey commended Okparaji for his tough stance against crime and criminality but however urged him to double efforts so as to curtail the current wave of crime in Eleme LGA.
Chief Abbey also appealed to the council boss to look into the plights of some Alode community dwellers who deserted their community due to fears of being killed since last year and were yet to return home.
Verifiable reports have it that politically motivated killings that rocked the LGA last year were responsible for the desertion of Alode community in Eleme.
