Lagos recovers over N829m for residents through mediation

Lagos State Government says over N829 million has been recovered between January and August for parties who approached the Citizens Mediation Centres (CMC) for resolution of disputes.

Commissioner for Justice, Adeniji Kazeem, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Funlola Odunlami, who stated this yesterday at a press briefing to mark the United Nations International Day of Peace, said landlord-tenant matters dominated the 33,670 cases reported to the centre.

According to him, of the cases reported, 18,982 matters were mediated and resolved while 4,701 matters were adjourned and referred to other government agencies for further processing.

He said the sustenance of human rights would eradicate acrimony and entrench self-love and mutual respect among citizens, which in the end contributes to the global peace.
