A group of angry agitators from Abua/ Odual local government area of Rivers State have protested at the entrance of Shell industrial Area, seeking audience from the state management of SPDC for what they described as injustices being done to them as the host and landlords of Shell in Emughan area of the local government.
Speaking to newsmen, spokesman for the aggrieved persons, Ansalem Okese, said that despite a court injunction still in effect, some group of persons who are not members of Emughan community have connived to inaugurate and impose a ruler on them with the sole aim of denying the indigenes of the community social benefits from Shell.
Amongst the requests from Shell, the group spokesman said they don’t want Abual/Odual oil cluster development but rather Emughan oil cluster development board.
One of the community stakeholders said the people of the community are in good standing and are grateful for the infrastructural development that Shell has given to them which include the aminigboko cottage hospital and other community developments but that they have to protest because they don’t want intruders to cause problems between Shell, the community and landowners.
