Doctor abducted while attending to patients In Rivers State

Suspected kidnappers have abducted a medical doctor while he was attending to patients in Rivers state.

The coordinator of National Youth Council of Nigeria in Tai local government area, Mgbor Clarkson, said Bitie community has become tensed up because the kidnap incident happened barely five days after suspected kidnappers abducted a pregnant woman in the same community.

The medical doctor, Dr. Matthew Olubiyi, was on Wednesday abducted in his consulting room in the hospital.

Eyewitnesses said the kidnappers dragged the doctor out of his consultation room, ordered him into a waiting car and took him away.
“The abductors bounced on him while he was attending to patients. At gunpoint, he was dragged out and ordered into a waiting getaway car and they zoomed away”, the eyewitness said.

Similarly, some residents of Alakahia community in Obio-Akpor local government area, a suburbs of Port Harcourt have equally raised alarm over the incessant attacks of hoodlums in broad daylight in the area.

Alakahia is one of the host communities to the University of Port Harcourt and majority of the students residing outside the campus live there.

The students have also become victims of the attacks.

it was gathered that the hoodlums rob in broad daylight, targeting, phones, laptops and other valuables.

The residents urged the state government to strengthen security in the area through regular police patrol.
