Ubima man dies on son’s traditional marriage day

A 65-year-old man has died on son’s traditional marriage day at Rumuogba. The ill-fated marriage ceremony took place on Thursday evening.

The sudden death brought the joyful occasion to a sad end.

Eyewitnesses told theportcitynews that the victim began foaming through the mouth seconds after he collapsed while attempts to revive him were not successful.

He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The sad incident occured a few minutes before the commencement of the traditional marriage which took place at the compound of Eze Temple Ejekwu, the paramount ruler of Rumuogba Community in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State.

The traditional marriage was between the son of the deseased man and the daughter of the paramount ruler.

Many of the guests who witnessed the ugly incident described it as a bad omen while some attributed it to spiritual attack. Others attributed it to either high BP or low sugar.

Theportcitynews could not immediately ascertain whether the victim had medical complications prior to the unfortunate event.

However, in a chat with our correspondent at the event, traditional prime minister of Rumuogba, Chief Amb. Williams Ejemba described the sad incident as unfortunate.
