NFF should formulate a definite pattern for Nigerian Football – Abdu Maikaba

The Head Coach of Akwa United of Nigeria, Abdu Maikaba, has stated that Nigerian Football lacks philosophy.

The coach, while responding to a question on why Nigerian Football cannot adopt his passing football pattern, which is regarded as the best in the country, said there is a lack of consideration for definite football pattern across the different age cadre of the National teams.

Maikaba made these known at a Post-match briefing after his side demonstrated superiority with their free flow Patten of football by mauling Hope of Glory FC 7:0 in the Aiteo Cup round of 64 games held at the Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

He said the whole burden lies on the Nigeria Football Federation to formulate a definite football pattern and educate coaches, so as to play like his team.

He said: “First of all I like FC Barcelona and I am a fan of Barcelona, and more especially the coach of Man City, Pep Guardiola. I like his style of football, I like his training methods and we used to do things similar to his.

“And even before I knew him as a coach, I now realize that he is the type of coach that has similar ideas with myself. So I go with him because he is more advanced than myself. I learn a lot from his team.

“I believe that at the Federation level, they should have formulated a type of play for Nigerian teams.

“Educate coaches, keep working with and giving them the right knowledge on how to bring up young players and I believe it will be easy to play like my team”
