NDDC Commences Foreign Scholarship Program In Education Studies

A foreign post-graduates scholarships to prospective beneficiaries in Education Studies has commenced through the
Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC,

Joshua Okejoto, NDDC Director, Education, Health and Social Services, said this during the Computer-Based Tests conducted in Port Harcourt for 2,835 shortlisted candidates out of the over 4,000 that initially applied for the 2018 edition of the scheme.

Okejoto stated that the commission has used the programme to create the best of the Niger Delta and this has been justified by the academic performance of former beneficiaries.

At the same time the opportunities in management studies included in 2017, Okejoto said the awards in education this year was to help universities in the Niger Delta engage high-class staff to grow the nation’s tertiary institutions’ capacity in turning out quality graduates.

Candidates, comprising those for Masters and Doctorate degrees, were examined primarily in their core areas of study during the 2018 qualification test with the final selection and the entire process expected to be concluded by the end of September as directed by the Managing Director of the commission, Mr Nsima Ekere.

He said that the choice of electronic qualification test process is very transparent as it enables the candidates to see their scores immediately after the test, adding that that is the beauty of the computer-based test.

The NDDC Foreign Post-Graduate Scholarship was initiated in 2010 to impact on the Niger Delta graduates and equip them with the relevant training and skills for effective participation on the local content programme of the Federal Government with eligibility limited to only candidates that have concluded their National Youth Service Corps and secured admission into foreign universities.
