Young Progressive Party Blasts Wike Over Lack Of Accountability And Disdain For Pensioners

The Young Progressive Party in Rivers State has criticized the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, over his unaccountability to Rivers people, and the refusal by his administration to pay pensioners their due pension and bursary to Rivers State Students.

This is contained in a statement made available to Theportcitynews.com by the state Chairman of the party, Hon. Omangima Harry

The statement reads: “It is over three years since the current administration rode to power through the Supreme Court judgment. In this years the Wike led Administration has continued to chant the word projects.

“Indeed, we have seen projects that can not be compared to none under this administration, like the secrecy of the state government’s budgets from the inception of this administration.

“Nevertheless, our focus today is not on the budget but rather on the secret service agent imposed on us in 2015.

“The recent allegation by the EFCC concerning the suspicious transaction of 117billion Naira and 5. 2 billion Naira bank charges from Zenith Bank, that brought about the quizzing of the bank MD Mr Amangbo, has shown that there is nothing hidden under the sun.

“While we all are filled with amazement about the recent revelation, further scrutiny reveals that the Rivers State government has spent roughly 1billion Naira every week since its inception, going by the figures before us.

“The Governor has decided to shift our attention to a 2007 court order that restricts the EFCC from investigating the finances of Rivers State government.

“Whether the current chase is politically motivated or not, the Young Progressive Party believes that the governor owes Rivers people the moral duty to give an explanation on public expenditures. Rivers people will like to know if the money was spent on paying civil servants, pensioners, contractors, or for capital expenditures or recurrent expenditures.

“Among many issues, the Wike led Administration has shown less tolerance for accountability, therefore, the Young Progressive Party wishes to charge his administration to pay the debts owed pensioners, clear the debts of Rivers students schooling abroad and also follow the steps of his Delta State counterpart by showing total commitment to the student community by paying the bursary owed Rivers indigenes in higher institutions across the country.

“The Young Progressive Party uses this avenue to assure the good people of Rivers State and the student community that bad leadership in Rivers State will end In 2019 as we are most committed to lodestar a new brand of governance that is all-inclusive, people and student friendly.

“God Bless Rivers State.

“God Bless The Young Progressive Party.
