The crisis rocking traditional council of chiefs of Rumuekini community in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State have deepened as a factional council of chiefs and acting Paramount ruler have emerged in the community.
Our correspondent reports that fresh crisis broke out on Sunday when the faction led by chief OBED WOSU after a congress on Saturday, dissolved the youth body led by one Emmanuel IKEGURU.
Chief WOSU who addressed himself as the acting paramount ruler of the community also appointed CHIBUZOR DIKE as the new youth leader, in the area and Victor ACHINMIKECHUKU as the vice and IBE ECHEONWU as the secretary.
Chief WOSU, however, advised the youths to ensure peace and avoid activities that are capable of causing problems in the community.
In their response, the incoming youth leader, CHIBUZOR DIKE and the outgoing leader Emmanuel IKEGURU commended the council of chiefs for the confidence reposed in them.
Our correspondent who narrowly escaped been hit with the weapons reports that while the event was ongoing, a group of youth with armed with different kinds of weapons stormed the venue of the event to disrupt the activity but it took the intervention of police officers to calm the situation.
Some other youth also moved to Rumuekini junction on East-West road to chase motor circle operative as they threw bottles on passerby.
