The end seems to be near for the crises that have rocked the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressive Congress in recent months as an official letter indicating that the National Leadership of the party might have recognized Ojukaye Flag-Amachree as the chairman of the state chapter circulated on Thursday.
A copy of the letter which was sent to theportcitynews by Chris Finebone, the publicity secretary of the party indicates that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, has invited Ojukaye Flag Amachree, to the APC National Executive committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for August 30, 2018, at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja .
The invitation dated August 14 and signed by the APC National Secretary, Mai Mata Buni, states that the meeting would commence by 10:30 am on Thursday.
Although there have been claims that the letter is forged, theportcitynews could not immediately ascertain the veracity of the claims.
Recall that the state chapter of the party was thrown into crises following the conduct of the state congresses in May leading to series of legal battles and subsequent balkanization of the party with party members pledging support for the Minister of Transportation and leader of the party in the state and the Senator representing Rivers South-East in National Assembly, Magnus Abe, who has indicated interest to contest during the 2019 gubernatorial election.
A factional secretariat of the party by forces loyal to Senator Abe was invaded by thugs said to be loyal to the minister on August 11 where properties worth millions were destroyed
