In a bid to ensure a smooth conduct of the 2019 general election, the Independent National Electoral Commission has inaugurated voter education volunteers in the University of Port Harcourt in conjunction with the European Union.
The Chairman of INEC Professor MAHMOOD YAKUBU during the inauguration of the voter education volunteers at the University Port Harcourt assured that votes will count in the 2019 general election.
MAHMOOD YAKUBU represented by INEC’s National Commissioner, Voter Education and Publicity PRINCE ADEDEJI SOYEBI urged the students to desist from vote selling and buying during Election Day.
The Head of the European Union Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS Ambassador KETIL KARLSEN called on the students not to stop at collecting the permanent voters’ cards but to get fully involved in the process of electing leaders that will govern them.
On his part, the Irish Ambassador to Nigeria AMBASSADOR SEAN HOY advised the students not to get involved in election violence.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt Professor NDOWA LALE represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration REGINAL OGALI commended INEC and European Union for taking steps to enlighten the electorates on the procedures to follow during the election.
