They said that despite dozens of police checkpoints on the road, the criminal elements still perpetuate heinous crimes along the road.

With the turn of event, security operatives along the road now resort to warning commuters on the route to follow instead of confronting the criminals heads on, they said.

They said that buses now pass through Etche which is longer while the route is bad.

However, the Rivers State Police command has said that the Anti-kidnapping unit of the police is doing all within its power to flush out criminal elements along the road.

The Public relations officer of the command said that effective results have been achieved by the command.

The command said that intelligence has been gathered on the activities of the hoodlums operating in the area, adding that kidnapping in Omerelu will soon be a thing of the past.
