Breaking: Four female passengers kidnapped along Owerri road

Report says four female travellers have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen along Ubima-Omurelu axis of the Owerre-Port Harcourt express road.

According to our source, security operatives at a checkpoint along the road had warned the driver not to take the route but he ignored their warnings and insisted on following the road.

Our correspondent also gathered that the police have also rescued two kidnapped victims identified as CHIDI NWOKE and SUNDAY IKECHI who were kidnapped in different locations in Rivers state.

A senior officer at the Anti-Kidnap Unit of Rivers State Police Command who confirmed the development said NWOKE who was kidnapped around Oyigbo was rescued within Ikwerre-Ngwa by a joint team of police and Army while SUNDAY IKECHI who was abducted on the 7th of August along Omurele axis of Port Harcourt-Owerri road was rescued at Igbo-Etche forest by men of the Anti-Kidnap Unit

The officer said the driver of the bus conveying the four kidnapped victims has been arrested and is under investigation at the Anti-Kidnap Unit following his role in the kidnap incident.
