Port Harcourt: Police arrest woman for selling one-year-old baby

The Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit in Rivers State have arrested a woman identified as LESEE MONDAY for alleged involvement in the sale of a one-year-old baby.

LESEE MONDAY who hail from Khana Local Government was arrested in her hideout around PipeLine axis of Rumuagholu in Obio-Akpor Local Government on Thursday.

The Commander of IG Monitoring Unit, BENNETH IGWE who is a Deputy Commissioner of Police said investigations revealed that the woman has been involved in the running of a baby factory home together with another woman in Anambra state where the one-year-old baby was recovered after a raid by the operatives of IG monitoring unit.

The mother of the one-year-old baby, MIRACLE EJIOFOR who spoke in an interview with our reporter Emenike Lorine, at the office of IG unit in Aluu narrated that her sister-in-law LESSE MONDAY persuaded her to sell her baby at the sum of two hundred thousand Naira since she was having issues with the husband.

MIRACLE EJIOFOR confessed that after much pressure, she succumbed and collected the offer and sold the baby to MONDAY but decided to report to police months after the spirit of the little baby started disturbing her.

Our investigations revealed that the baby has been officially handed over to the father at the office of the IG monitoring Unit in Aluu.

ACP Benneth Igwe said that the suspects will be charged to court soon.
