At least 13 persons died on Thursday morning along the Ogbakiri area of the East-West road when a Toyota Hiace Passenger Bus travelling to a yet to be identified destination rammed into a flatbed self-loader.
According to an eyewitness account, the passenger bus was overtaking the flatbed when the accident occurred.
The impact caused flames that engulfed the bus, burning the occupants beyond recognition.
Locals swooped into action in a bid to rescue survivors but were not successful.
The Police have not made official comments on the matter while the Federal Road Safety Corps has evacuated the remains to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital
