Emmanuel Amunike Appointed Tanzania National Team Coach

Former Nigeria international, Emmanuel Amunike, has been appointed the new manager of East African country, Tanzania.

The former coach of Nigeria’s under-20 side will lead the Taifa Stars through their 2019 AFCON qualifiers until 2020 when his two-year contract with the Tanzanian FA runs out.

Amunike, 47, replaces Salum Mayanga who was shown the way out due to poor results.

The 1994 Nations Cup hero is the fifth manager at the helms of Taifa Stars since 2014.

His first test with the team will be against group leaders, Uganda, in September, in an African Nations Cup qualifier.

Tanzania sit third behind second-placed Lesotho, in Group L, with a point from one game.

African teams have been gearing up for the AFCON 2019 qualifiers with team changes in management.

Cameroon, last week, appointed former Netherland international, Clarence Seedorf and assistant, Patrick Kluivert to handle the Indomitable Lions.
