Ahead of the August 18 by-election in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area Constituency 3, Dickson Worlu, on August 1, emerged as the sole candidate for the All Progressive Congress, APC, after the primary election conducted by the Party.
This means that the APC has beaten the August 1 deadline set by INEC for political parties to provide a candidate for the Election.
Recall that Ihunwo Victor Nyeche, who previously occupied the position, resigned to contest for the Chairmanship of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, thereby leaving the post vacant.
INEC, on Thursday, July 27, fixed August 18 as the date for the by-election.
Political Parties are expected to submit the names and addresses of their party agents to the Electoral Officer by August 10.
